So I was talking with Grail and a few other players about random mud knowledge or secrets. For example, the secret cave in the swamp with the ray of hope, what the forest actually spells out, things like that. Between a few of us we came up with 10 or so mud "secrets" or forgotten information about zones, items, etc (Another example being how to make the paragon cane pop).

I was thinking maybe Brazil or another IMM could give a hint every month about a forgotten (or never known) bit of mud knowledge. For example, if there really is a crystal dagger assemble in Japan (based on the fish mongers description and the crystal shards you can find on the wandering apprentices). It would be similar to the hint bz gave about the drider in demon web that loads a neat helm of reverse alignment.

This would be a great way for newish players to have a sort of starting point for mud exploration and quests (i.e. today I will muck about in Rhyoden and figure out what that map in the basement might mean as well as what all the little bits of junk could possibly assemble to) and would get older characters interested in exploring again.

The "hints" don't have to be posted in the forums solely, there could be a storyteller mob that when spoken to lists several different stories and the player could then select which one they'd like to listen to.

Anyway, this would be great, and the hints don't have to be necessarily about how to figure out the zone quest (although in some particularly archaic ones a few hints would be nice) but would more be confirmation that there is something worth looking into. Of course, I am more than happy to list a few mud rumors that I think would be great additions to the storyteller.

Any suggestions, ideas, or condemnations?

-G

I like the idea of a storytelling mob.

Maybe also there could be a series of quests in which some of the forgotten assembles need to be remade to help kill a megamob that is threatening to destroy adrilankha; after the "special assemble" is made, the storytelling mob can randomly tell stories of how the assembles were done/places were found, etc.

I will gladly share nuggets of knowledge that aren't well known, but I fear that most of the secrets a lot of old players and former imms probably know better than I do. Most of the ones I do know are because of custom code I worked on while creating them.

Does anybody every play the games in the Carnival?

Brazil.

I have tried playing the carnival games to try for the hat, but have never won, even after playing hundreds of games. I mainly play the balloon game - do you get the hat playing the other games, or does it matter?

All of the games give out the the "shiny pin" or "candy corn" as a prize... but the grand prize for each game is different.

Brazil.

See my Rhyoden and Ravenloft posts :)

Also,

Does anyone know how to begin the quest that involves collecting spider silk or different oozes from slimes around the mud? ORRR different colored chips from gamblers?

Most quest mobs do not have quest flags around them so finding the right mob to interact with is difficult.

Also,

Does anyone remember the trick for the paragon cane? is it still in place? which cloud do you have to move/junk?

I'll float the wonders of the rooms that you could portal to, but could never work out if they were really random codes that had to be hard scripted in, or based off something that could be determined.
